Quick answer
What can Banyan Proxies be used for?
Use Banyan Proxies city proxies to see public web content as people in a city see it: local search results, marketplace prices, ads, delivery zones and app behaviour. Fraud, unauthorised access, spam, attacks and anything unlawful are banned. Banking, government and payment-portal sites, plus SMTP (email-sending) ports 25, 465 and 587 are blocked at the gateway.
Who must follow this policy?
Every account holder, every sub-user and anyone who uses credentials you created. You are responsible for their use.
Which uses are welcome?
- Collecting public data while respecting each site's terms and the law.
- Local search and map results by city.
- Price, stock and delivery checks on marketplaces and retail sites.
- Ad verification and brand protection.
- Testing apps and websites for users in a given city or time zone.
- Market research and personal privacy.
What ends an account?
- Fraud of any kind, including payment fraud, fake orders, carding and phishing.
- Logging in to accounts that are not yours, credential stuffing or account takeover.
- Spam, mass messaging or fake engagement.
- Denial-of-service traffic, scanning for vulnerabilities, or attacks on any system.
- Content that exploits children, terrorism, or harassment of people.
- Ticket or limited-stock scalping and bonus or promotion abuse.
- Any use that breaks the law where you are or where the target is.
Which targets are blocked?
Banking, government and payment-portal sites, plus SMTP (email-sending) ports 25, 465 and 587. We may add targets to this list when we see abuse. A blocked request returns an error and does not count as a fault of the plan.
Which local laws should I know about?
Every country in our region has a computer-misuse law, and several have anti-spam or data protection rules. Examples: India's Information Technology Act 2000, the Philippines' Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, Singapore's Computer Misuse Act 1993, Pakistan's Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 and Australia's Spam Act 2003. The rules by country guide lists the data protection law of each country. This is not legal advice.
What do you expect from me?
Keep request rates reasonable for each target, follow its terms, and stop when a site asks you to. Keep credentials private and use sub-users for clients. Tell us at [email protected] if you think your credentials leaked.
How do I report abuse from one of your IPs?
Write to [email protected] with the IP, the time with its time zone, the target and what happened. Abuse reports are reviewed by a person, and confirmed abuse leads to suspension. Connection metadata is kept for up to 30 days, so report within that time.
What happens after a breach?
We may warn, limit, suspend or close the account, depending on how serious the breach is. A confirmed serious breach closes the account and its balance is lost. We disclose records to authorities only when the law requires it.
Which other policies apply?
The terms of service set out suspension and liability, the privacy policy covers logs, and the contact page explains how to report abuse.
